As a United Methodist congregation, we share many beliefs in common with all Christian traditions, best summarized in the Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
      who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
      and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to the dead.
      The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
      and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
      From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.

United Methodists trace our roots back to the Wesleyan movement in 18th century Britain. This movement renewed the church and also transformed society.

At Grace, we strive to practice the best of classic Methodism in new and exciting ways. What does that mean? It means we hope to bring together a love of Scripture with an appreciation for tradition while being open to the Spirit; a commitment to individual spiritual practices with a love for worship and community; a zeal for personal holiness that is connected to a passion for outreach and justice, guided by a vision of God's Kingdom.

Above all, we seek to live up to our name - Grace. Grace is the unearned, undeserved, 'amazing' love that God gives to all people freely. This grace transforms individuals, families, and communities, and our hope is to be a people shaped by grace, sharing God's grace with Greensboro and the world.
