“Faith, hope, and love – these three remain. And the greatest of these is love.”

These words conclude one of the most well-known chapters in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13. In our series The Big Three, we look at faith, hope, and love, often called the “theological virtues.”

On this Sunday, for part 2, we looked at hope in Romans 5:1-11. Oddly, here hope is presented as the end result of a process that begins with suffering. We talked about the thorny question of suffering and faith, and how the Holy Spirit guides us through dark times in our life.

We can have hope for the future because the Spirit is present.
